Welcome to a new journey in American History. “Social Studies content in grades 7 and 8 focuses on a chronologically organized study of the United States and New York State History. It traces the human experience in the United States from pre- Columbian times to the present, tying in political, geographical, economical and social trends in United States history to parallel trends and time frames in New York State History.” We will also include hemispheric links to Canada and Mexico when appropriate.
-The Seventh grade will use the Holt McDougal Textbook:
United States History
Social Studies, I believe, is best learned through a variety of different methods. Throughout the year we will be engaging in cooperative learning, interactive lessons, lessons interpreting/ analyzing primary and secondary sources, mapping lessons, debates, and computer aided studies. Through a wide variety of methods we will hone in on our knowledge and grasp of Social Studies skills.
I hope this year will be enjoyable, productive, exciting and fun. My goal for you is to understand and gain knowledge, intellectual skills, and civic understandings so that you can take from your experiences here and apply them as responsible citizens in East Hampton and wherever you choose to go from here.
Sincerely,
Mr. Krupp
